A Better Way to Roll Your Dice?

During this afternoon, while playing in another DM’s campaign, I’ve discovered a way of rolling dice that could possibly improve your rolls. Now, rolling the standard way resulted in the typical results: some rolls were good, and others were not so good.

Now, one player was fooling around with his dice, and started putting them between his teeth and spitting them out. Interestingly enough, he was getting better than average rolls out of this! Our DM tried it, but he ended up getting nothing but bad rolls. Then he tried rolling that said die with his hand, and was still getting bad rolls. So we agreed that he had a cursed d20. :???:

However, if you plan to try this out, I would recommend making sure that at least one person in the group knows the Heimlich maneuver. There may be a risk of accidentally swallowing, or even inhaling, the dice. In the case of accidental inhalation, the Heimlich maneuver will most definitely be needed.

But now it has me wondering: Do you have any particular way of rolling dice that seems to consistently give you better rolls?

Just being a DM usually allows me to roll 20s whenever the characters are low on hit points. Other than that, no special trick for me.

Anyone thinks DMs are more lucky? Or is it just that we notice it more when PCs are getting trounced?

I have a Dice Tower, a small-run plastic contraption that allows you to drop dice into it and it sufficiently randomizes it and produces more varied results. It takes longer and is less fun than just rolling them, though.
