DM Setup Photos

Martin Ralya over at Treasure Tables made a post a few days ago about DMs sharing photos of their gaming places. As such, he’s created a photo pool over on Flickr specifically for gaming spaces. So not only can we see how other people do things, we can learn and use some of the methods ourselves.
You’ll find photos of dry-erase grids, projector setups, storage areas, and even just people around the gaming table. One photo that caught my eye was a projector image using a map created with Neverwinter Nights. This made me think of my earlier post on Bringing Your PC Games to the Paper & Pencil World. When I originally thought of it, I was thinking of having the game actually running and moving the camera through the world as your players went along. I never thought of creating something in a game, and taking a screenshot of it, adding grid lines, and using it on a table. So this definitely gets a thumbs up from me!
There’s also some good ideas on sorting your array of DMing goodies, such as using project boxes to sort your dice and tokens (as well as sorting other items), a way to sort your miniatures, perfect shelving for all your books, and even a secret door!
On my next chance, I’ll make sure to bring my camera along with me to take photos of the current gaming areas my group uses (we rotate between everyone’s houses). I’ll be hosting the photos primarily from this site, but I’ll create a Flickr account just for this project that Martin has started. I would definitely be interested in comments from other DMs and players!
Also if you’re a DM (or GM if you use some other roleplaying system) or even a regular player, take some photos of your gaming area! I would love to see how all of you arrange your gaming areas! ![]()
