Dungeon and Dragon Decision Met With Uproar

A friend of mine pointed me towards Wizards of the Coast’s D&D forums concerning my original post about the cancellation of Dungeon and Dragon magazines. There seems to be quite an uproar over the decision. Many people are quite upset over the cancellation, and with good reason too, as both magazines have been around for a long time and have been staples in the D&D community. Dragon magazine, the longer running one of the two, has apparently been in print for about 31 years!
Reading through one particular thread, though, I have found out that Wizards of the Coast may very well charge for the new online content. And of course, there seems to me many people who are worried about this development. Naturally, there’s a number who worry that the content will be easily pirated. And then there are those who worry that that content will not be as good, since they have not been impressed with the current online content.
About the best we can do at the moment is hope that Wizards of the Coast maintains the quality of the content that was enjoyed in the printed magazines. And if they can manage that, I may go ahead and check it out for myself. Otherwise, I’ll just stick with collecting back-issues of both Dungeon and Dragon.
