It’s true that the sites I linked to can be rather confusing at first. I haven’t found anything that look simpler to use.

A part of the added complexity is all the extra stuff that additional books add. 3.5 became pretty notorious for rules bloat. 4th Ed. seems generally easier, though it seems some books have begun to add additional rules/options for character creation that can complicate things.

Of the few character generators that I listed, the stuff made by pathguy.com seem the easiest to use.

I found this through google and found these sites to be more confusing then need be. Are there any site’s that are still free but simpler? I find that using the book is easier then these sites.

My personal favorite was always Redblade, before PCGen of course. It’s supposedly still in development for the newer system, 4e, but the 3.5 is very simple to edit and customize (though not as in depth as PCGen). It’s a little nicer and compact visually in comparison to PCGen, but what it lacks in ‘depth’ it makes up for quick character generating.

I highly suggest on getting the PCGEN and taking the time to learn it. Personally, I will never go back to manually writing up a character sheet, it is far too ardous.

Also please check out Pathfinder RPG if you want to run an updated 3.5 and not 4.
