No More Dungeon or Dragon!

I finally started to catch up on my comics, and on the news for Order of the Stick, I found out that both Dungeon Magazine and Dragon Magazine have been canceled! Apparently, Wizards of the Coast wants to shift all that content into an online format. In a way, this kinda sucks, as I was finally starting to think about getting a subscription to one or both of those magazines. :(

However, it’s not all bad. If you happen to have a subscription to one or both of them, and it goes beyond the ending magazines, Paizo if offering ways to get everything out of your subscription, thanks to a special transition page they’ve created for this event. Not only do they offer an adventure series to use in D&D, Pathfinder, they’re also offering back issues of both magazines, and even credit towards their online store. What’s awesome about the deal that Paizo is offering is that you’ll get a good discount on Pathfinder, or get 120% of your remaining subscription put towards the online store. Back issues are for a one-to-one basis though. And if you don’t want the Pathfinder adventure series, store credit, or back issues, Paizo can send you a refund check for however much your remaining subscription is. I think these options make this a pretty sweet deal. :)

So now I’m curious as to how Wizards of the Coast is going to go about publishing this content online. Will it be made available for free to the whole D&D community? Or will we need to subscribe to some sort of service to access this content?

Also, I want to know your thoughts! Do you think this is a good move by WotC? Or do you think there will be a void left behind when these magazines disappear from the shelves and mailboxes everywhere?
