Site Stats for April

Since I rolled a natural 1 Wednesday for writing up a new post, I’ve decided to get one done today to meet my current goal of maintaining 3 posts per week. And this time, I thought I’d do something a bit different, for those of you who like seeing a few numbers.
Checking out my stats on Google Webmaster Tools, and also using the Search Status plugin for Firefox, I’ve found that the front page has actually popped up to Google Page Rank 1! That in itself I think is rather cool, given I’m a new guy amongst the millions of bloggers around.
However, I’ve noticed that one particular page is marked as having a higher page ranking than the front page. And sure enough, it’s actually my Monster Manual Entry for John Chow. However, what caught me a bit off guard it’s been given a page rank of 4! Very awesome, and thank you John!
Meanwhile, the Alexa rating for this site has been hanging around 486,496. While definitely not spectacular, it’s still better compared to where I started. The Technorati rating is currently at 619,247, which is definitely better than the previous rating which was something over 1,000,000. And so far 8 blogs link here.
So far, so good!:) The little bit of promotion I did by doing a review of JohnChow.com in my own way brought in some good traffic, plus it provided a link from a high ranking site, which undoubtedly boosted this site’s overall rankings a bit.
While I do plan on monetizing this site at some point, it won’t be until there’s more of a decent traffic flow. Also, before you freak out about it, I do not want to litter this site with nothing but ads. And if all goes well, you may never even notice the ads, which would just be evil of me.
This, of course, is because I read stuff from the root of all evil.
So, for the rest of this month of May, I’ll be focusing on:
- Maintaining a consistent posting frequency. I’ve been trying to get my posts in on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week. But, since I didn’t get Wednesday, I still need to work on this. But at least I’m still getting in 3 for this week.
- Further develop the layout for this site. This is really just the Cutline theme I’m using, with a few tweaks here and there. And, to be honest, the comments area has been rather ugly ever since I started using the threaded comments plugin. I want this site to be aesthetically pleasing for all of you visiting here.
- Do some additional promotion. The one promotion I did by writing a review of JohnChow.com was alright, but just that one thing isn’t going to bring in the traffic I want to see. So I need to get the D&D Nerd name out there more, and try to get more people to check this out. And if they like what’s here, cool!
If you have any suggestions about how I can improve this site, I’d love to hear it!
If you like this post, buy me an ale!Topics: Site Development
