Tweaking Comments

I’ve finally decided to spend a bit of time to tweak the comments section for this blog. As you’ll see, I’ve added Brian’s Threaded Comments as well as MyAvatars for MyBlogLog. Unfortunately, I’ve been running into some funkiness with the CSS code for both (and I admit, I’m still a noob), so not only is the text tiny in comparison to what comments used to be, but the avatars for MyBlogLog aren’t floating to the right as they’re supposed to be. >_<
On top of that, I’ve implemented one tweak to help curb the amount of spam that’s been piling up. Thankfully, Akismet has been catching 99.9% of it (there was one that wasn’t caught). However, checking it about every other day and having around 100 or so comments from people advertising viagra sitting in the Askismet spam box is rather annoying.
Also, while making the above changes, I’ve shifted some stuff around to make the above plugins a bit cleaner, at least with the HTML code they spit out. I’ve taken all the Javascript code out of the threaded comments plugin, as well as teh CSS code, and put them into their own files. I’ve also edited the primary CSS file for this site as well, so if you’re a Firefox user, you’ll want to hit Ctrl+F5. For IE users, I think about the only way to get the updated CSS will be to clear your cache.
If you know of a good way to fix the text size in the comments, and/or to make the MyBlogLog avatar image float to the right like it’s supposed to, please leave a comment!
